Mom sent a sweet care package back in November full of goodies including Amaryllis bulbs and paperwhite bulbs. The Amaryllis bulbs made it into soil a few weeks ago. Sheepishly, I'm just getting around to planting the paperwhites. I planted half the bulbs in soil and half the bulbs in stones. We'll see what happens.
Speaking of sheep, partaking in traditions established long ago doesn't appeal to me, so I tend to quietly establish my own traditions in an effort to create meaning around holidays. My New Year's Eve personal review is one, and another is bringing a new plant into the house to mark new life in a new year. Echter's in Arvada never disappoints; I love their selection of indoor plants and there's always a knowledgeable staffer to give me pointers on care. Dracaena Marginata.
